  	PHILADELPHIA, April 18 (UPI) -- Bell Atlantic Corp. reported
  Thursday that its first-quarter net income rose 13.5 percent to $470.5
  million or $1.07 a share, compared to $414.5 million or 95 cents a share
  for the same period last year.

  Sales of secondary residential telephone lines totaled 205,000 in
  the quarter and the number of integrated services digital network lines
  in service increased 45 percent from last year to 155,000.  The company
  said network operating expenses for the quarter totaled $2.4 billion,
