Soccer Suspended

Matches cancelled: The Zambian government has cancelled two friendly
matches by the Nigerian Super Eagles, saying Nigeria is still under
Commonwealth sports sanctions, it was reported yesterday. The
state-owned 'Times of Zambia' quoted a government spokesman as saying
Nigerian players would not be issued with visas for the matches even if
they came. The Commonwealth countries suspended sporting contacts with
Nigeria in 1995 following the execution of Ken Saro Wiwa and eight other
Ogoni rights activists by the regime of General Sani Abacha.
