THE BEST, MOST COMPREHENSIVE ARTICLE ON THE TOPIC TO DATE...
I NEED TWO FAVORS... MY disability has increased exponentially, and I need
several copies of this article, which I am presently unable to get... Could
you all send me additional copies, so I can distribute them to my
physicians?? I am pinned to the bed, and have no way to get copies.
ALSO, I have one piece of feedback regarding suggestion # 3 on page 64 (If
possible, try to restrict the amt of medical information released to
insurers... After my car accident, in which a careless driver hit me from the
rear, causing spine problems, I TRIED to limit access of data to the
insurers, and they flatly refused to process the claim; they demanded a list
of every doctor I have ever seen (and their current mail add) since 1969, yes
1969. AND they demanded a list of (and addresses for) each and every employer
I ever worked for since 1969, AND full access to ANY AND ALL employer
records. When I tried to limit the release somewhat, the insurers refused to
process the claim further, and stated the claim would remain in limbo, until
I acquiesced, and released EVERYTHING. Otherwise, they told me the claim
would be ignored.
Apparently, insurers KNOW that some patients are informed, and are prepared
with a quick (and effective) comeback, should the client even TRY to preserve
some privacy.
Thanks for this great article, and keep them coming. This is the best
ARTICLE ON MEDICAL PRIVACY I HAVE SEEN, SO I WANT ALL MY PHYSICIANS TO HAVE A
COPY OF THIS. By the way, one of my pain care physicians has been put totally
out of business by HMO's declaring that "pain is not a treatable condition"
and refusing to honor any of his claims, stating lack of medical necessity as
an excuse for refusing to pay already incurred claims, which they had
previously covered for 5 years... VERY ODD.
Keep up the good work, and please keep articles like this coming..
If you are able, I would really appreciate 4 copies of this article... I
know it's a lot to ask, but my physician has sentenced me to bed, and I
coulldn't get out if I wanted to...
