Re: WA State bill & "Uniform Health Care Info. Act"



HB 2032, a "patients bill of rights" measure,  appears to have failed to
come out of its originating House committee by the relevant cutoff date,
3/6. Haven't checked so far, but the bill may not have even gotten a
hearing. Of course, it would still be interesting to see who its supporters
and opponents were. Appears there wasn't a Senate version or companion
bill....

HB 2032 - DIGEST

 Declares an intent that patients covered by health plans receive quality

health care and that they:
      (1) Have sufficient and timely access to appropriate

health care services;

      (2) have choice among providers;

      (3) are assured that health care decisions are made by appropriate
medical

personnel;

      (4) have access to information regarding their health plans;

      (5) have access to a quick and impartial process for appealing plan

denials;

      (6) are protected from unnecessary invasions of health care privacy;

      (7) are assured that personal health care information will be used

appropriately; and

      (8) are protected from unfair and deceptive practices.
