INTERNS NEEDED FOR THE SPRING

Internship Announcement for January to May 1997

  Deadline December 15, 1996

PUBLIC CITIZEN'S CRITICAL MASS ENERGY PROJECT

Public Citizen's Critical Mass Energy Project was founded by Ralph Nader
in 1974 to oppose nuclear power and promote cleaner, safer energy
alternatives. Our work includes researching and writing studies on
energy issues, lobbying Congress, monitoring the relevant federal and
state agencies, initiating litigation, and working with the press and
  citizen groups nationwide.

  	INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

DUTIES: Our internship program emphasizes substantive projects. These
often include researching and writing a report on some energy-related
policy or legal matter. They may also include helping in a lobbying
campaign, working with the media, and/or providing assistance to local
safe energy organizations. Interns will be asked to help out with some
administrative tasks, but these duties will take less than 20% of the
  intern's time.

SUPERVISION: Each intern is assigned to work with a member of the
full-time Critical Mass staff who will provide general supervision and
serve as a resource. However, given the nature of our work, it is
important that interns have the ability and the desire to work independently.

  DURATION: At least 10 weeks.

COMPENSATION/CREDIT: Unfortunately, our limited means preclude us from
paying any stipend, other than the employer's portion of a work-study
grant. However, we will be happy to arrange academic credit where a
  school program allows it.

LOCATION: Our office is on Capitol Hill, about 2 blocks from the U.S.
Capitol, across the street from the Library of Congress.

QUALIFICATIONS: Strong research and writing skills, and a commitment to
the protection of the environment and consumers.

TO APPLY: Send letter, resume and 1-2 page writing sample to:
