Regarding the postings on Basic and the early history
Try "Fire In The Valley" for the early history of Basic.
I think there is something there about the Home Brew
Computer Club and early Basic compilers.
I believe the introduction of MSDOS was the first time
that the standards business strategy described
in Microsoft Secrets was applied. It was brilliantly
