Essential.org, which hosts the stop-imf list, is changing the
listserve program it uses. We are replacing listproc, which is not Y2K
compliant, with a package called Mailman.
Mailman seems to be a very good program, and hopefully will improve
operation of the list. However, it is possible there will be some
difficulties as we make the switch. To the extent possible, please bear
with us.
You will soon receive a "welcome message" to stop-imf. Please save this
message. It will contain a password that you will need to unsubscribe from
the list (though it will be easy to recover the password by e-mail from
your subscription web page if you forget it). The message will give you
useful information. It will also tell you that you will receive a message
with your password every month -- this is incorrect; I've disabled that
function -- and that you can post to this list, which is also incorrect.
Below are some details on the new program.

Essential Information | Internet: rob@essential.org
How does this affect you?
1) You have been given an arbitrary password to prevent others from
unsubscribing you without your knowledge. It will be mailed to you in
a separate email.
2) If you have World Wide Web access, you can use it any time to
unsubscribe from this list, to switch to and from digest mode, to
check back issues of the list (which will be available after the list
has been getting posts for a day or so), etc. The Web address for
these resources is:
http://lists.essential.org/mailman/listinfo/stop-imf
3) If you do not have WWW access, you can do these same things via
email. Send mail to stop-imf-request@lists.essential.org with a
subject or body containing just the word "help" (without the quotes).
You will receive an automated reply giving you further directions.
Please address any questions or problems with this new setup to:
stop-imf-admin@lists.essential.org.
