IMF, World Bk To Send Team To Indonesia Next Wk
JAKARTA -- The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund will send an
unofficial technical team to Indonesia to evaluate the country's
debt-restructuring program and macroeconomic and monetary targets,
Boediono,
head of the national development planning agency, said Tuesday.
"The team will arrive next week," Boediono told reporters.
He said the results of the evaluation will be used as imputs for an
official
team that will be sent later to assess the country's economic performance,
ahead of the next tranche of IMF lending to Indonesia.
"There won't be a new letter of intent between Indonesia and IMF until the
new government is established," Boediono said. He said the official
IMF-World
Bank team will be sent after the new government is in place.
Relations between the Indonesian government and the IMF have been
jeopardized
by the scandal linked to the transfer of funds out of Bank Bali, allegedly
for political use. The World Bank, Asian Development Bank and IMF have
suspended some loans to Indonesia until the Bank Bali case is resolved by
the
government.
