Yesterday David Lawsky from Reuters wrote a story about our suggestion
that MD be required to divest the browser. After the story was picked up
by Yahoo, I received a rapid wave of email responses, most quite rude, but
also, surprisingly similar in terms of various talking points regarding
the case, and most lacking a normal email footer, from various hotmail and
yahoo type free email accounts. Among the more identifiable responses
were firms that were in some type of strategic alliance with Microsoft.
And I also heard directly from Microsoft -- in a similar missive. It
could be that all this was quite spontaneous, after all, I have been
reading those MS paid for polls that report what public opinion is. But
it also has the feel of a partly organized response. This has happened
several times in the past 2 years.
