Kelly Purcell, Grassroots Manager from member organization Citizens Against
Government Waste, has asked that the following be forwarded to other
individuals and organizations in the Impact Voters of America.

Take care!

Jack

Many of you are familiar with the Microsoft antitrust case either through
the news media, or through responding to one of CAGW's action alerts
regarding the case. In general, this case is not being driven by
disgruntled consumers, but by Microsoft's jealous competitors. To that
end, the estimated $30 million being spent on the case is wasteful use of
taxpayer dollars. There has been no evidence showing that consumers have
been harmed in any way by Microsoft.

While the actual trial has come to an end, there are three phases left in
the case: findings of fact, findings of law and remedies. Both parties,
MS and the Dept. of Justice, previously submitted the facts of the case as
they saw it, and now Judge Jackson will rule as to how he views the facts
presented. The finding of facts are tentatively set to come out this
Friday (11/5) at 6:30pm EST.

CAGW/TAN is planning to have our members (yes, that means you) write
letters to their state Attorney Generals (AG) claiming once again that this
is wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars. As a reminder, this is the list
of states involved in the case: CA, CT, FL, IL, IA, KS, KY, LA, MD, MA, MI,
MN, NM, NY, NC, OH, UT, WV & WI.

As many of you participated last time, you are familiar with our web site,

www.cagw.org , and its capability to be used to send an email to your state
AG. Once again, CAGW/TAN will develop an email that you can send directly
to your state AG and you can add personal anecdotes if desired. CAGW/TAN
will have this available (technology permitting) by the close of business
on Monday. I will send out another email then with the direct link to that
portion of the site.

I ask that you once again participate in hammering the message home that
taxpayers do not feel this is good utilization of their hard-earned tax
dollars. There are far too many real life and death problems facing our
nation including 15,000 murders per year and 10,000 violent fugitives from
justice, using $30 million on an antitrust suit where there has been no
harm to consumers is abuse and mismanagement at its worst.
