Thanks for that article.
Perhaps this is not the right place to bring it up,
but i see one major aspect that the article misses:
The privatisation of technology and its consequent proliferation
has led to environmental and social disaster.
There has been little or no consideration of long term impacts
and there is strong pressure to not do so at all,
preferring instead to see problems as an opportunity and market
for "cure" research and products.
The thin layer of life on this planet is suffering from
pollution and climate change and extraction and disruption of cycles,
leading to a huge loss of bio-diversity and cultural diversity,
not to mention rampant poverty and abuse of human rights.
Humans have far exceeded their capacity to manage the complexity.
Thus it would be better to keep new technologies under public control.
