Let me just say - this makes me much more interested in working
with the UPD.<br>

As the most vocal board-member (by far), I have assumptivly taken
Richard's statements as fairly representative of the general project.<br>
I had also made the assumption that the board, being composed
largely of the legally steeped - was much more firmly rooted in the
present system.<br>
As these were not necessarily the conclusions I have come to, I was
somewhat at odds with the perceived long-term direction of the group
and my own goals.. I had many times come close to asking for a more
clear purpose but I didn't want to risk the factioning that could have
created and welcomed the participation by all. Seeing the large
disagreement in the intellectual drive behind two board-members makes
me much more comfortable - I feel no need for a more specific group
statement (which I think only limits future possibilities, and may be
misperceived).<br>
Shame on me for such nonsense!<br>

kind of rationalisation is fine psychologically I suppose but not
analytically.
I find it very distressing that these kinds of personal projects have
begun to interfere with UPD.

It's an extreme generalization to say that "IP" is harmful, or beneficial,
or anything. It covers so much territory. Some parts of it certainly are
harmful.
