You tried to stifle the discussion when it wasn't going your way,
in pretty much the same manner as you try to keep discussions going
when you think YOU can turn the tide.

Let other people speak as freely as you would like to speak,
and then others will do you the same courtesy.

When you get on one of your rants and raves you are at least as
distracting, if not more so.

You did try to stifle the discussion, just admit it, and move on.
