I am afraid that it has always been this bad. . .it is only our currently
increased level of understanding that has made it appear any worse today.

As I said at the Cambridge conference last month, THIS IS A WAR!!!

AND IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN. . .FROM THE FIRST DAYS OF COPYRIGHT!!!

Until this concept filters through, there is going to be vanishingly
small chance of any changes that do not make copyright more restrictive.

Yes, there will be "lip service" and "crumbs". . .but the overall extent
of copyright changes will be less and less for the person on the street.

I'm afraid this will only become an issue when the person on the street
is so ignorant and illiterate that the governments will find these mobs
cannot be reasoned with, and who knows what will happen then. . . .

It's not a pretty sight to consider in any case.
