While I have spent my entire career posting public domain works
to the Internet, I certainly don't want EVERYTHING I say on the
Net to be public domain, or to appear with a license.

If I WERE going to use a license, I would use Project Gutenberg's
license, not the Creative Commons', since the Project Gutenberg
license has many more years of precedents leading to this version.

However, as far as this specific case goes, I think it is just fine
to copy anyone's emails into a reply you are making back to the list
it first appeared on.  Simple permission should suffice to forward
to others, individuals or lists.
