A few responses to a few messages:
1.
The average published author in the US makes less than 10%
of the "median national income" of $44,000 per year, so there
is really no question of "making a living" on this basis.
2.
The copyright extensions only benefit the best sellers,
not the average author. . .only from works that are still
selling well after a lifetime.
3.
These benefits are thus mainly to corporations and those
living on inherited wealth, not mainly for average authors.
Thus the whole issue has once again been avoided:
that the copyright laws are really only for the benefit of
the most elite, not for the average creator of copyrighted works.
