Hi all,=20

I=92m a new subscriber to the list; my apologies if this has already =
been covered (didn=92t see it in the archives):

Does anyone know the current legislative status of the Piracy Deterrence =
and Education Act of 2003 (presented by Rep. Lamar Smith) or the Author, =
Consumer, and Computer Owner Protection and Security (ACCOPS) Act of =
2003 (from Michigan=92s John Conyers)? Both bills would tighten =
regulations and enforcement on file-sharing, and the former would =
include a federally-funded public relations effort to boot. All I know I =
learned from thomas.loc.gov, but there=92s not much of a story there =
beyond the fact that they=92re both stuck in committee.=20

It occurred to me that some activist on this list might have a better =
idea what chance these bills really have?

Thanks much,=20

JC Dwyer
