Picket In Front of US Treasury
(15th and New York Ave. NW)

******
October 1st Noon
Picket the G-7 finance Ministers meeting at the
annual World Bank/IMF meetings
Washington DC (Location TBA)

Join Jubilee USA Network in front of US Treasury on September 21st and the
G-7 Finance ministers meeting on October 1st at Noon in a spirited picket.
We will be there demanding that the voices of the millions living under the
harsh economic regime of international debt be heard - 100% Debt
Cancellation Without Harmful Conditions from the Resources of the World
Bank and the IMF! Money for health, education, the environment, not for
debt payments!

The Group of 7, The United States, France, Japan, Italy, United Kingdom,
Canada, and Germany, control international economics through their control
of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Both institutions are
the key players in holding impoverished countries in a stranglehold of
unpayable and illegitimate international debt, debt burdens that keep the
Global South in a constant state of poverty and debt dependence. Through
privatization of services, cuts to social spending, trade liberalization,
and harsh economic restrictions the World Bank and IMF exert the interests
of wealthy creditor countries on the economies of impoverished countries.
Their policies are playing a key role in the ever-increasing AIDS pandemic,
global environmental destruction and the increasing gap between wealthy and
poor countries. In order for the people of the Global South to realize true
economic justice there must be 100% Debt Cancellation for Impoverished
Countries Without Harmful Conditionalities! The G-7 will meet on October
1st. The finance ministers will then take what is decided at that meeting
to the annual meetings of the World Bank and IMF. It is important that we
take our message straight to the G-7.
