ACTION ALERT

Send Your Message on International Debt to the G-8!
G-8 Leaders to Meet in Sea Island, Georgia, USA June 8-10

Hot on the heels of the spring meetings of the IMF/World Bank, it's time
for action again =96 in just over a month the G-8 leaders will meet off th=
e
coast of Georgia, USA, and we need your help to send them a message on
debt and the harmful policies of the IMF and World Bank!

This is an important event because the meeting happens in the US only once
every 7 years =96 and the G-8 leaders are the ultimate decision makers on
matters of life and debt!

Jubilee USA Network and its partners will be in Georgia working to bring
critical voices to bear on the G8 leaders for failing to live up to their
limited promises on debt, much less provide the leadership needed to exit
from the global debt crisis. We will tell the G-8 =96 End Global Apartheid =
=96
Drop the Debt Now!

We need your help! We are hoping activists across the country can send
their message to the G-8 in two main ways.

1) We are asking you to take a photo or of yourself or your group holding
a banner or sign with your message to the G8 (signs would be suggested to
read: G8- Drop the Debt Now! =96 see www.jubileeusa.org for an example!).
Email or mail your photo to us. We will then display the pictures at the
G8 counter summit activities =96 as a backdrop to our media events and
displayed prominently at a planned vigil and fair. The photos will be an
effective visual representation of our concerns and demands to the G8 and
a way for folks to voice their concerns to the G8 even if they can't be
physcially present in Georgia. Email your photos to
g8photos@jubileeusa.net (note .net NOT .org) or send them via regular mail
them to Jubilee USA, 222 E. Capitol St., NE, Washington, DC, 20003. We
must receive your photo by June 1!

2) We will deliver a letter from religious leaders to the G-8 calling on
the leaders to take bold action on debt. If you have contacts with
religious leadership and would be willing to approach them to sign onto
such a letter, contact jakeya@jubileeusa.org or call Jakeya Caruthers at
202-543-0692 and we will send you a copy.

We also encourage those in Georgia or the Southeast US to check out some
of the events planned by local organizers to challenge the G-8 =96 and
consider being present with us in Georgia in June!

See http://www.jubileeusa.org for more info. on Jubilee=92s G-8 activities
as well as on events planned in Georgia.
