Friends:

The terrorist attacks in Washington and New York have dramatically altered
the terrain for the planned late September protests against the IMF and
World Bank.

The IMF and World Bank have cancelled their meeting plans; and the
Mobilization for Global Justice has cancelled its plans for street
protests.

Teach-in activities will proceed, however, including the Ending Global
Apartheid teach-in that Essential Actionis co-sponsoring. We've revamped
the schedule and reduced ticket prices, but will continue to hold the
teach in from September 27-29. Of course, we're strongly encouraging
people to attend -- information and online ticket sales are at
www.essentialaction.org/wbimf.

In posts following this, I will send out clips announcing the IMF/Bank
meeting cancellation, the Mobilization for Global Justice cancellation
announcement, the AFL-CIO cancellation announcement, and an update from
50 Years is Enough, one of the groups with whom we are co-sponsoring the
teach-in.

Our hearts are of course with all of those who lost anyone in last week's
tragedy.

Best,

--
