TEACH IN TOUR ON THE GLOBAL IMPACT OF THE WORLD BANK AND IMF

During the Joint Annual Meetings of the World Bank and International
Monetary Fund (IMF) this September, tens of thousands of people will
converge in Washington, DC to be a part of the growing Global Justice
Movement. They will be calling for an end to the policies and practices
of the IMF and World Bank that have caused widespread poverty,
inequality, and suffering among the world's peoples and damage to the
world's environment.

As part of this movement, Fifty Years is Enough, Jobs with Justice, Global
Exchange and Essential Action are organizing a Teach In Tour on the global
impact of the World Bank and IMF. We will be bringing environmental,
labor, indigenous rights, healthcare, debt and other anti-corporate
globalization activists from the Global South to visit cities around the
United States between September 10 and 25. Each city in the tour will host
2-4 activists, who will speak at teach ins of varying size. The scope and
size of each event depends on the interests and capabilities of host
organizations. The Teach In Tour will culminate in a three day event
(Sept. 27-29) in Washington, DC immediately before the World Bank and IMF
meetings begin.

We are now looking for organizations interested in hosting an event on
the Teach In Tour.

Beyond general explanations of the World Bank and IMF, what issues would
you like to see addressed in such a teach in? (i.e. gender, labor,
environment)

We are looking for hosting organizations to help with the costs of
producing this tour (travel costs, hotel costs, and honorariums for
speakers). Would your organization be able to contribute funds for your
event?
