In last week's InfoWorld column, Bob Metcalfe has provided the following
information from an International Data Corp survey:
In 1999 there were:
102 million homes in the US
36 million of US households were online
1.34 million were on cable modems
330,000 were using DSL
4.5 million of 7.67 million companies were online
- 150,000 were on cable modems
- 150,000 were on DSL
By 2003, IDC predicts there will be
65 million households online
9 million cable modem users
9 million DSL users
