Apparently investors think that the Bristol Monopoly patent on Taxol, a
US governemnt funded drug, are responsible for about 9 percent of the
value of the company. That was the drop in price of BMS shares when it
lost key claims to patents on treatment regimes for Taxol. Jamie

-- JUDGE INVALIDATES MOST PATENT PROTECTION FOR TAXOL USES
Thursday's Wall Street Journal reports that Federal Judge William Wall in
Newark, granted several pretrial motions by generic drug companies seeking
to invalidate patent protection for any use of Taxol except for ovarian
cancer patients. Bristol Myers, the patent assignee, plans to appeal,
with its stock dropping $5 (9%) during the day.
