Late last night, the US House of Representatives passed bipartisan
legislation under suspension of the rules requiring the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration, if it believes an import appears to be illegal, to disclose
to the importer specifically which section of the law the package appears to
violate. H.R. 3240, introduced by my boss, Rep. Gil Gutknecht of Minnesota,
is intended to help would-be importers get full disclosure from the FDA
regarding the legality of a given import. Right now, the FDA sends warning
letters to individuals mail-ordering drugs which don't explain exactly what
is wrong with the package.

For more information on the bill, go to www.congress.gov, and search under
"H.R. 3240" or feel free to e-mail me at andrew.nichols@mail.house.gov.
