This is the script of "Bad Medicine", a TV ad being run by Phrma in 17
Congressional Districts.

ANNOUNCER [v/o]: There is a bill in Congress that could jeopardize the
safety of our prescription medicines. This bill would allow medicines
from foreign countries to be imported into the United States that have
not been approved for importation. Medicines that may have not passed
our vigorous FDA safety standards. Medicines that may be counterfeit.

The World Health Organization calls counterfeit medicines a deadly
threat, stating 7 percent of the pharmaceuticals imported every year are
fake, counterfeit or incorrectly manufactured.

(On screen: The World Health Organization states "... seven percent of
pharmaceuticals imported are counterfeit.")

And, three FDA commissioners have expressed concerns about unregulated
foreign-made drugs.

(On screen: Sponsored by the Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of
America)

America's pharmaceutical companies provide Americans with safe,
effective medicines that have been tested through strictly enforced
government trials to ensure their safety.

Imported medicines that are unregulated are the wrong prescription for
America.

Call Senator Gorton at (202) 224-3341 and tell him to stop the foreign
drug import amendment.
