Subject: FRIDAY - last day to speak up on Nat'l Health Data Stewardship=20=
Entity
DEADLINE: THIS Friday (July 27, 2007)
Please send an email today!
WHAT'S HAPPENING:
The federal government has proposed letting a group of government=20
appointees
decide who gets to see, share, and use all medical records.
The proposal is called the National Health Data Stewardship Entity.
Control over private medical data would be taken out of the patient's=20=
and doctor's
hands. State legislators could no longer protect medical privacy. This=20=
appears to be
an attempt to nationalize control of patient data and undo current=20
federal law which
allows state legislators to write strong privacy laws. It's also an=20
attempt to gain access
to private data for "secondary" uses.
All medical records could be linked, shared, accessed, transmitted,=20
disclosed, used, and
disseminated if directors of the proposed "Stewardship Entity" ruled=20=
it could be done.
The federal agency is asking for your opinion.=A0 Please speak up now!
