About Privacy ***
Americans overwhelmingly want to have electronic copies of their=20
medical records and believe that having greater access to their=20
information will reduce medical mistakes and costly repeat procedures,=20=
according to a new survey commissioned by the Markle Foundation. But=20
eight in 10 Americans are very concerned about identity theft or fraud=20=
and the possibility of their data being used by marketers without their=20=
permission =96 with three-quarters of those surveyed saying the=20
government has a role in establishing privacy and confidentiality=20
protections for electronic health information. The findings were=20
released last week at the Connecting Americans to Their Healthcare=20
conference in Washington, DC.
