Comments on the National Health Information Network

  PrivacyActivism and Privacy Rights Clearinghouse have filed comments 
in response to a Request for Information on the National Health 
Information Network. The proposed NHIN will make complete patient 
records available to health care providers, regardless of location. 
While this is potentially extremely worthwhile, as the comments 
discuss, there are many potential problems (including privacy and 
security), and we highlight the importance of involving all 
stakeholders rather than allowing decisions to be driven primarily by 
vendors who stand to profit from the resulting hardware and software 
investments.
