Eyes: The End of Medical Privacy by Charlotte
Twight, Cato Institute, February 1, 2003
The assault on our medical privacy is accelerating. In August 2002, =20
the executive branch weakened the federal government's already flawed=20
medical privacy regulations. In June 2002, a U.S. district court =20
judge dismissed a well-founded constitutional challenge to the medical
privacy rules. Finally, leaving little doubt about its endgame, =20
the federal government revealed in fall 2002 that its planned "Total =20
Information Awareness" program is targeting, among other things, =20
medical information about all of us.
