.... while everyone in health care policy is immersed in the Medicare
debate, another important public debate should be taking place: the
building of a national health care data system.
We put together a comparison of the national health data system initiatives
in the two patient safety bills that were debated today in the U.S. Senate
HELP committee (Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions).
The much longer House bill, that passed the House overwhelmingly in March
includes $25 million in information technology grants and the creation of a
Medical Information Technology Advisory Board to build health data system
