Med-Privacy subscribers-
I have been accumulating a catalog of medical privacy intrusions, individual
cases, group cases, and violations of patient confidentiality and or privacy
for over 5 years. Have not seen much in the past few months on this list, and
would be interested in reviewing and recording recent cases involving the
issue of violations of patient privacy, or the future networking of
electronic patient records, and the ramifications of the same, both pro and
con.
I am no corporation, am paid by no corporation, conglomerate, medical,
provider, data warehouse agency, or anything else. Am simply a private
individual/researcher interesting in documenting such events and issues, and
presenting abuses of access to medical records to legislators, national
privacy agencies, and state privacy advocates. Names do not have to be
submitted, but events would be appreciated on the basis of their merit, and
impact on patient privacy. Responses can be emailed to the list, or to me,
directly, without fear of exposure or retribution. As I am not paid by any
corporation, or organization, I have nothing to gain except advocacy of
patient privacy and confidentiality rights. Patients have nothing to fear,
because I am a patient advocate, and not some behind the scenes industry
agent looking to exploit you or your situation.
Dialogues and debates are welcome, so long as they are made in good faith and
without malice toward the patient, or the debaters.
