UNITAID, the international drug purchasing facility, has undertaken first=

steps to create a voluntary patent pool for AIDS medicines for developing=

countries.=0D

This event aims to present the UNITAID patent pool to relevant=0D
stakeholders (European Commission, UNITAID, MSF, EATG, representatives=0D
from the pharmaceutical industry) and interested parties, and provides an=

opportunity to explore together next steps of its creation =E2=80=93 seekin=
g to=0D
engage all stakeholders in a constructive dialogue at an early stage.=0D
Based on the results of the discussion, UNAIDS will publish a=0D
