For your information:

Dear all,

I have found out about an interesting and important global south
conference which will present the results from a research project on
impact of TRIPS on Production, Innovation and Access to Medicines, which
may be of interest to you.

Co-organised by Abersytwyth (Wales), Deakin (Australia) and Hyderabad
universities in Hyderabad, India 17-19th September 2010, the conference
will bring together leading policy makers, public health advocates,
researchers/scholars, and industry representatives to examine the state of
pharmaceutical production and innovation in the global South in the wake
of the implementation of TRIPS-mandated IPR.

This is intended to be a landmark conference (hence early planning)
bringing together experts from across the global south (and north) to
discuss the economic and politics of drug production, innovation, and
access to medicines across developing and emerging economies.

The organisers are really keen to get a strong civil society involvement
in the event. Furthermore, there are possible opportunities for
sponsorship and to submit conference papers and possibly deliver keynote
talks.

For further information see attached documents (background paper on the
research - findings to be presented at the conference, and info on the
conference) or get in touch with Dr. Owain Williams (University of
Aberystwyth, Wales) on <odw@aber.ac.uk>

Best wishes,
