The *Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue* (TACD) hosted a conference
on intellectual property last Monday and Tuesday in Washington DC: Patents,
Copyrights and Knowledge Governance: The Next Four
Years<http://www.tacd-ip.org/blog/?page_id=5>
.
The conference was the occasion to gather several of the biggest IP lawyers
and economists of the moment, among whom Maria Pallante, Professor Arti Rai,
Prof. Bernt Hugenholtz, Prof. Dan Ravicher, Guilherme Patriota, Josh Lerner,
Prof. Anthony So... , as well as the main NGOs and activists people working
on IP issues (Fred von Lohman and Eddan Katz from EFF, Philippe Aigrain from
'La Quadrature du Net', Ellen 't Hoen from UNITAID, Paul Levy from Public
Citizen, Sisule Musungu from IQsensato...), some industry people (William
Patry from Google, Richard Wilder from Microsoft)... and two Nobel Prizes:
Joseph Stiglitz and Eric Maskin (check the program below).
One week before the new American Administration takes office and a few
months before the European elections, the speakers made some policy
recommendations to the US and EU administrations for the next four years.
What should the US and EU governments do in terms of international
norm-setting on copyright, in terms of patent reform, of health R&D, of
software standards...? Check the recommendations on the TACD IP blog:
