Discussion

Closing remarks Dorette Corbey, MEP

A recent report[1][1] notes how ?Europe?s research funding situation is a
jigsaw puzzle of complexity, lack of transparency, lack of coordination, an=
d
lack of clear priorities. With few exceptions most of the rich EU countries
were not in a position to either report on or increase their investments in=
 TB
research.?

M=E9decins Sans Fronti=E8res has explored the European Commission?s contrib=
ution,
and analyses why funding dedicated to R&D for neglected diseases such as TB=
 is
still grossly insufficient in comparison to the need. Why so? What would
the EC?s fair share be? How can funding streams be improved so that the mo=
ney
matches the needs? What needs to happen?

Join us to discuss these and other crucial questions.
