A public roundtable of leading patient advocates, policy professionals
and academics will exchange ideas and information on legal developments
and effective strategies for using law to promote broader access to safe
and affordable medicines. Topics will include: innovative state
legislation being considered around the country; federal appellate
litigation by the pharmaceutical industry asserting a First Amendment
right to access prescription records for marketing purposes; evolving
law on whether liability claims are preempted by FDA approval; FDA=81fs
consideration of new drug safety regulations; and litigation regarding
deceptive marketing practices.
