CIEL is proud to publish "A Citizen

WIPO", a guide for enabling and enhancing the effective participation of
civil society in intellectual property policy-making at the World
Intellectual Property Organization. Available at

The growing participation of civil society has proven invaluable in WIPO.
Civil society has raised awareness about the negative impact of WIPO's
programs and activities on areas such as the conservation of biodiversity,
access to knowledge, food security, and transfer of technology.
Nevertheless, civil society involvement can, and should, be improved.  The
technical nature of WIPO issues continues to deter and limit the
participation of many civil society organizations. CIEL's Citizen's Guide to
WIPO aims to fill some of that gap.  It describes WIPO's role in the
development, implementation, and enforcement of intellectual property rules,
and seeks to enable civil society to effectively insert public interest
concerns into WIPO's programs and activities.



We hope that this Guide provides the information, support and answers that
you need. Please pass it on to colleagues and partners and we look forward
to working further with all of you.
