Indigenous groups and other local communities are demanding protection for
their Traditional Knowledge and Heritage, but is the World Intellectual
Property Organization listening? CIEL publishes an analysis of WIPO's
proposed framework for the protection of Traditional Knowledge titled "THE
GAP BETWEEN INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' DEMANDS AND WIPO'S FRAMEWORK ON TRADITIONAL
KNOWLEDGE". It is available on CIEL's website at
http://www.ciel.org/Publications/WIPO_Gap_Sept07.pdf. Written by Palesa
Tlhapi Guye, CIEL IP Fellow, an earlier version of this paper was published
in the South Centre/CIEL IP Quarterly Second Quarter 2007 available at
http://www.ciel.org/Publications/IP_Update_2Q07.pdf.
