About Mr Myc Riggulsford

Myc Riggulsford has over 25 years experience in journalism,
communications and issue management. He runs a wide range of science
communication and media skills workshops for clients including the
British Council in the UK, the Netherlands and India, five of the UK
Research Councils and three Directorates General of the European
Commission. As a science journalist, Myc presented 'A Question for
Science' on BBC Radio Wiltshire Sound for 3 years, and reports on
science events such as on the British Association annual festival for
newspapers, magazines and local radio. He co-founded the internet
newsletter SIGWatch Pharm which tracks pressure group activities.

While head of public relations at UK Transplant Service he gained
extensive TV and radio crisis experience as principal NHS spokesman
on transplantation, and in medical ethics debates, before setting up
The Walnut Bureau issue management consultancy in 1991. He is a
member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists, a member of the
Institute of Public Relations, and holds a postgraduate diploma in
public relations from Stirling University, Scotland.

Myc Riggulsford started National Transplant Week in the UK, and for
the 25 charities involved ran the joint press office; has helped 70
European Commission funded sustainable transport projects publicise
their work across Europe; and through the Walnut Bureau Myc was
director of a group of 95 major charities including The Wellcome
Trust, discussing the use of animals in medical research in media,
through parliamentary lobbying and in schools; and was one of the
three original founders of the Boyd Group, a discussion forum for
radical activists, welfare groups and medical researchers. He
lectures in media communication, pressure groups concerns and ethical
issues at Bristol, Manchester and other UK universities.
