medicines five years after the signing of the Doha Declaration on TRIPS and=

Public Health at the 2001 WTO Ministerial meeting in Qatar. The objective=

of the Doha Declaration was to ensure that trade rules did not stand in the=

way of access to essential medicines. Five years down the road, it=E2=80=
=99s time=0D
to take stock and examine whether Doha has held its promise to =E2=80=9C=E2=
=80=A6protect=0D
public health and (=E2=80=A6) promote access to medicines for all,=E2=80=9D=
