The Consumer Project on Technology (CPTech) is hosting a seminar by
Sean Flynn on "Excessive Pricing" issues in pharmaceuticals.
Date: Wednesday March 15, 2006
Time: 12:30pm-2:00pm
Venue: 1621 Connecticut Avenue Suite 500, Washington, DC 20009
In December 2005, the Federal District Court for the District of
Columbia issued a landmark ruling holding that D.C.'s Pharmaceutical
Excessive Pricing Act of 2005 was an unconstitutional restriction of
a patent holder's right to "set a price in their discretion." PhRMA
lobbyists are now using the opinion to thwart efforts in Hawaii,
Arizona and other states that are considering unconscionable pricing
legislation.
Sean Flynn, legal consultant to the D.C. Attorney General's office in
the suit defending the D.C. Act and an adviser for the National
Legislative Association on Prescription Drug Prices. Sean Flynn will
review the D.C. Act and law suit and discuss measures other states
are considering to regulate prices of pharmaceuticals in the U.S.
