[Ip-health] Impact of Peru-US FTA on Access to Medicines

The following detailed report from the Peruvian Ministry of Health
analyzes the impact of increased intellectual property protection
contained in the proposed Peru-US FTA on: (1) the prices of medicines,
(2) access to medicines, (3) the treatment costs for a group of diseases
whose prevalence is increasing (such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, diabetes,
malaria, multidrug resistant TB), and (4) the changes in the average
citizen's out of pocket costs, as well as in the budgets of the Peruvian
Ministry of Health and in the Peruvian National Health Insurance Agency,
ESSALUD.
