Subject: Re-thinking on open source
I have been doing a lot of rethinking and reading on open source as
it pertains to accelerating drug development and drug
production...there is much pre-knowledge and much know-how than can
and must be shared to improve efficiency and cycle times... The
explosion of scientific knowledge at the genomic and other omics
level triggered it (see this article http://www.genpromag.com/

plus I believe the current legal and regulatory frameworks are not
flexible enough for entrepreneurs and companies in emerging nations
who wish to advance in the life sciences..or anywhere for that
matter. In any event, bio-information is going to become so cheap
and easy to produce, share and use it's stupid for companies to fight
about these things let alone squabble over data exclusivity issues
with regard to old products....
You can post my comments on this is you like since this new open
source world is something we plan to push at CMPI...and if we can
work together in some way shape or form...fine with me...
