3D -> Trade - Human Rights - Equitable Economy (3D) and Sur – Red
Universitaria de Derechos Humanos (Sur) are pleased to present their new
publication in Spanish entitled “Guía Práctica sobre la OMC y otros Acuerdos
Comerciales para Defensores de los Derechos Humanos” (Practical Guide to the
WTO and Other Trade Agreements, for Human Rights Advocates).



The Guide provides an up-to-date, practical and easily understandable
introduction to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other trade
agreements, and the impact of these on the realization of human rights in
Latin America and the Caribbean.



The Guide is based on the original English-language version published by 3D
and FORUM-ASIA in 2004.  (available at
www.3dthree.org/en/complement.php?IDcomplement=36 )   This new edition is
more than a translation; it has been revised, updated and adapted with
regional examples, cases and bibliographic references in Spanish.



It provides concrete examples and suggestions of concrete actions that can
be undertaken by human rights advocates and others concerned with ensuring
that rules relating to trade are equitable.  No prior knowledge of trade or
economic issues is necessary to use this publication.



Although the Guide is designed for human rights defenders in Latin America
and the Caribbean, it will also be of use to people in social movements,
journalists, parliamentarians, students and other individuals that would
like to ensure that trade rules do not have adverse effect on the enjoyment
of human rights.

pratique sur l’OMC et les accords de commerce, pour les défenseurs de droits
humains).



Le Guide fournit une introduction concise et claire aux rouages de
l’Organisation mondiale du commerce (OMC) et les autres accords commerciaux
engageant les pays d’Amérique latine et des Caraïbes.  Il explique comment
ces accords affectent la réalisation des droits humains.



Il n’est pas nécessaire d’avoir des connaissances préalables du commerce ou
de l’économie pour lire le Guide.



Le Guide est principalement destiné aux défenseurs de droits humains en
Amérique Latine et aux Caraïbes.  Il sera aussi utile aux mouvements
sociaux, journalistes, parlementaires, étudiants et individus qui veulent
empêcher que les règles de commerce aient d’impacte négatif sur les droits
humains.



Le Guide est plus qu’une traduction de la version anglaise publiée par 3D et
FORUM-ASIA en 2004. Il a été complètement mis à jour, et révisé, avec des
exemples régionaux et une bibliographie en espagnol.
