Please find below a link to a paper published in the WHO Bulletin of May
2006, authored by Dr Hans Hogerzeil of Medicines Policy and Standards, WHO,
on essential medicines and human rights.

This may be useful in light of discussions at this week's Intergovernmental
Working Group (IGWG) on Public Health, Innovation, and Intellectual
Property.

Indeed, one of the papers currently under discussion at the IGWG for a
global strategy and plan of action gives some overarching principles on
human rights.
