Dear Health Care Advocate:
Public Citizen is working with other groups in the consumer, religious
and disability communities to oppose efforts by the Bush administration
and conservative members of Congress to turn Medicare over to private
insurance companies.
To this end our groups have formed the "Campaign to Preserve - - Not
Privatize - - Medicare" I have attached our statement of principles in
hopes that your national organization agrees with them and would be
willing to sign-on as a member of the campaign.
Please note that the campaign will operate on the basis of specific
sign off by all groups on our public statements. For example if we send
a letter to the hill it will end with the statement that "the following
members of the campaign endorse this statement" and then it will list
those groups in agreement. I say this so that you know that by joining
the campaign you are not endorsing each and every thing the coalition
may say or do and that your organization will be given the opportunity
to opt-out of any statement you do not agree with.
If you are interested in joining the campaign please contact April
Greener at agreener@citizen.org.
Please call me if you have any questions
202/454-5155
Sincerely,
Ben Peck
