Breakthrough Announcement on Competition Commission Complaint Between
Tau and Others vs GlaxoSmithKline and Boehringer Ingelheim

All media are invited to attend a press conference at the Competition
Commission Headquarters which will be addressed by (among others) Zackie
Achmat (TAC Chairperson), Willie Madisha (COSATU President), Welile
Nolingo (CEPPWAWU General Secretary) and Hazel Tau (First Complainant
and person with HIV). The press conference relates to the Competition
Commission Complaint between Hazel Tau and Others (including TAC, COSATU
and CEPPWAWU) against pharmaceutical companies GlaxoSmithKline and
Boehringer Ingelheim.

The press conference will be jointly hosted by the complainants, the
Competition Commission and GlaxoSmithKline.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Manto Tshabalala-Msimang and the Minister of
Trade and Industry, Mr. Alec Erwin, have been invited to participate in
the press conference.
