The 12 World Congress on Tobacco or Health in Helsinki, August 2003 is
coming!

DEADLINES APPROACHING

· Fellowship Programme application deadline September 30, 2002.
· Workshop proposal deadline September 30, 2002

On behalf of the Finnish organisers we cordially invite you to take part
in the 12th World Conference on Tobacco or Health, which will be held on
3-8 August 2003 in Helsinki, capital of Finland. The program development
is intensive.

FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME

WCTOH 2003 will carry a special Fellowship Programme for a limited
number of fellows working in tobacco control in developing countries and
countries in transition. The Programme will provide intensive
orientation and skill building to emerging international leaders.

Fellowships can be awarded to a person
· whose work or studies are related with tobacco control
· who lives in developing world or in countries in transition
· whose educational and/or professional background qualifies her/him to
benefit from a short intensive programme
· whose employment or study is of practical importance in his/her
country
· who has no connections to the tobacco industry
· whose knowledge in English is adequate

The Programme will cover a round-trip travel to Helsinki, accommodation,
and participation in the Fellowship Programme from July 31 to August 3,
2003, and in the Conference (August 3 – 8, 2003). More information, as

The deadline for applications is September 30, 2002.

WORKSHOP PROPOSALS

We invite you to join the planning of the conference with your
perspectives and ideas. Any suggestions dealing with topics, speakers or
other ideas are welcome. They can be sent to us either by email or mail.
The programme committee will hold the responsibility to further develop
the programme.

Please send proposals of 1-2 pages (plain text) to the Congress
Secretariat at wctoh2003@congcreator.com.

The deadline for workshop proposals is September 30, 2002.

COMMUNICATION

The WCTOH 2003 communications will have an important part in the
Conference. We would like to ask are there specific issues globally/of
your region that you would like us to cover, and are you willing to
provide us some information of your region/area of expertise (names,
contacts, emails etc.). Please do not hesitate to contact us to the
