TAKE ACTION! Monitor Tobacco Ads - World Cup 2002
*************************************************

Dear Colleagues,

World Cup 2002 is here!! This worldwide sporting event presents us with
a terrific opportunity to work together on a truly global collaborative
project! We are asking you to participate in surveillance of tobacco
advertising and promotion during the World Cup. All you need to do is
track advertising or any other promotional activities during the time
that you are watching the match.

The data collected through the World Cup Diary (see below) will be used
to measure the amount of exposure viewers had to tobacco marketing while
watching the World Cup and illustrate the ways in which the industry was
capable of taking advantage of existing gaps in national and global
cigarette advertising and promotion restrictions.

At the conclusion of the World Cup, you are requested to send your
completed Diary to:

Institute for Global Tobacco Control
Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
615 North Wolfe Street
Baltimore, MD 21205
USA

Or Fax c/o Heather Wipfli at +1 (410) 955-0863

We hope that by working together we can distribute the results and
conclusions of this convenient study to the world's media and generate
support for stronger controls during the World Cup 2006!

Thank you for your contribution to the project! Enjoy the games!!!
