Domestic shipment volume declined 2.3 percent to 207.1 billion units.
Philip Morris says this decline in part reflects inventory adjustments
by wholesalers, and that actual decline is in line with historic decline
of 1-2 percent.
International volume grew 3.5 percent, to 698.9 billion units.
Domestic sales continue to generate about half of the company's income
and profits, but amount to less than one quarter of overall cigarettes
sales.
